Animate Biohacker's Handbook 2D logo in 16 seconds

  • Status: Closed
  • Prize: $190

Contest Brief

Your task is to create a 16 second animation of a logo for our book, the Biohacker's Handbook. The original design of the final frame and audio is provided. The animation will be used in our online video productions.

The design depicts a head that emerges out of a connected web of lines (symbolising man and technology). Molecules are floating out of the head (symbolizing biology and chemistry).

The logo (the head) should build up from the background until the final design emerges. The vector design is attached (Biohackers_Handbook-169.eps).

The design doesn't include the name of the book or any other text - Our video editors will add the logotype depending of context, that's why there is free space above the head.

The animation should synchronize and match to the beats nicely with the attached 16 sec audio track (Clean Elegant Minimal Logo (Full Version) (WAV).wav).

The animation file should be 1080p 16:9. See example frame where the animation should end (Biohackers_Handbook-1080p.png).

The visually most creative way to construct the head out of the background, animated molecules and rhythmically best composed design will win.

Feedback from our designer who made the original design: keep it simple and don't change color palette or add any cretive new graphical elements. You are supposed to animate the unfolding of our logo, so experimentation should be in those limits :) We like to see something happening with the background, the head and the bubbles, preferably all animated and coming together in the end. So far in entries flying triangles or unfolding triangles are not preferred compared to more dynamic morphing and twisting network nodes. So think in lines instead of triangles.

Hi everyone, I uploaded new data files. The one I started the contest with had a little graphical glitch in some of the triangles appearing white. New files (v2) fix this.

For new entries: keep the flat design and color palette. You can use 3D for depth and other effects, but don't go overly crazy with it. Also, use cuts and/or depth the make your animation more dynamic instead of just keeping the picture on screen staticly. If you have any questions, I'm ready to answer them.

Thank you for your answer. I think this freelancer article clearly describe that we can upload video files format directly to video related contest : https://www.freelancer.com/support/Contest/file-format-of-contest-entries. I prefer that option instead of giving you link to external sites, but still can't figure out what is wrong with my file format. However, I'll try your suggestion if it is not agains freelancer rules. Thank you

Is that picture of the final frame what you want us to use? Or is it just a basic design?

It is the actual logo / book cover, so the animation should not divert too far from it.
