Contest Brief

Hi,

I am developing a super-heroic card game similar to Hearthstone. This project is to develop a piece of card art. I will need full copyright on the art with no restrictions on its use.

The character I want to start the contest out with is named Judicator. I have a video game screen shot of the character from the MMO City of Heroes , as well as some imagery from an artist that I like to help guide the contest. I am very open to the character's look changing, in fact it needs to change because I can not use the costume designed elements from CoH.

Judicator is a normal human who out of all the life forms in the universe just happened to be in the process of dying as two cosmic entities came to an agreement to empower a mortal being with the powers of life and death. So Judicator was mutually chosen by these two entities as a cosmic judge, jury and executioner . His powers are vast but always come with moral decisions and a heavy weight. He wields the power of death(negative energy) in one hand and life(positive energy) in the other. Life is the right hand and death is the left.

He is an older man, in his mid 50s with silvering hair. His costume has always been sort of a "cosmic armor" with some versions of him having parts of the costume actually having glimmering star fields etc on it. I see him wearing metallic silver gauntlets, boots, and pauldrons with a sort of half robe over it like a medieval judge of sorts(See the Urza picture for robe idea - NO SLEEVES). The pictures will definitely give you more of an idea.

I stress again that IT IS IMPORTANT that he not look exactly like the screenshot from City of Heroes. I don't want a carbon copy of my City of Heroes game costume options but more of a re-imagining of him. The more sci-fi the better. His costume is always White/Black/Silver maybe some cosmic colors if you incorporate stars fields into his costume. I've had versions of him with sci-fi breastplates etc as well. Think Super Man but with the costume broken up via sci-fi armor, judges robes etc.

See www.judicator.com for the screen shot of him from the City of Heroes game. I've also uploaded a couple of images of him from Champions Online.
The attached file is of Urza from magic the gathering fame. I like the robe here (though not the colors). If you can't make the robe work I'll consider more of a armored superman approach with cape as seen in CoH.

The art needs to be in full color, either in traditional format that is scanned and submitted or digital format. The art can be vector or raster in format.
If raster files are submitted, files should be at least 5.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall (larger if possible) and at least 300 DPI.If vector files are submitted, please provide a black and white outline as well as the finished art with color applied.

The character can fly as well. So a superman style hovering pose with some energized fists or burst or energy flashing from his hands as he hovers would be cool to see.

One thing to keep in mind is Juicator's cosmic nature. Lots of Kirby crackle effects, scenes of him channeling the two forces etc will definitely be favored. Ideally this card art will tell a lot about him...maybe even show some of the anguish it takes to deal necromatic energy damage or the resolve it takes to purify something.

Hi Everyone. It looks like the submissions I'm getting are just a little off, probably due to my descriptions above. They seem to be off in two ways #1 This needs to be full card art. Not just a character piece . #2 Judicator is closer to Super Man than he is to a Wizard. The submissions so far have been very wizardly. I uploaded a couple of more pics of a different costume I have used in Champions Online to give you a better idea. Thanks so much for the submissions they are all appreciated!
