Contest Brief

Please design a simple art deco pattern/design that will fit in the open area in what will be this ironwork piece.

See the file 'Empty and Full.' This shows you the empty frame (on the left) and MY ATTEMPT at creating a design to put on the inside (on the right). I am not a designer, so I hope you can do better than this. I would like it to have more lines/more detail than it does now and also just be a better design. Please keep in mind that this will be laser cut out of a thick sheet of steel, so there cannot be any floating parts of the design.

This is fitting inside a 10.5-foot circle, so the outer portion and where it stops at the bottom-center are absolute and cannot change. You can change the rest of the outline slightly if you wish (the left side of the border) as well as the center pole, but this is somewhat riskier. This is going in a 10.5' circular hole in a wall and there still needs to be room to walk through to the left of the ironwork.

THERE ARE THREE DIFFERENT WAYS TO APPROACH THIS, THE CHOICE IS YOURS:

1: You may just update/polish up my design. If you wish to do this, look at files 'insp01' and insp02.' These are the gate that I took the inspiration from as well as a waterfall that I took inspiration from for the half waterfall at the bottom. Just make it better than my version, more details and cleaner details.

2: You may wish to make a new art deco pattern. For more inspiration, look at files 'insp03 - insp13.' I am simply looking for the most spectacular, catching design.

3: You may wish to create a design with an Aviation theme. Look at the file 'angel.' If this imagery can be incorporated into the overall design (perhaps change the wings to rise upward and become the shape of the design) it would be good.

We will produce some matching furniture and decorative pieces after this, so there will likely be additional work for the winner. For your convenience, there is an SVG file attached with the design outline, my crappy design, and the wireframe angel design.
