Contest Brief
I need 5 pieces of banner artwork for my website, www.kickblade.com. It's a software engineering site with a distinct artistic/graphics edge. The site has quite a dark/moody atmosphere and I am after something that continues that.
The banner dimension will need to be 1000 x 250 to fit on the site. Each banner will feature at the top of the page alongside the existing navbar and menu (the current height is only 80px but I plan to increase this for the banners).
The main purpose of the images is to showcase the part of the site you are in. So, for instance, the "contact us" banner may feature a cool phone/envelope/email etc. something relevant to the page the user is looking at. I always appreciate some abstract or artistic twist in delivering the message though i.e. painted elements are very welcome.
More specifically, the banners I need are for:
- 1 x home page (I'd love more though to alpha fade and cycle between)
- 1 x projects page
- 1 x contact page
- 1 x about page
- 1 x downloads page (not active on the website yet)
The banners should reflect the purpose of the company; graphics, art, film, video games, engineering, cool stuff etc. Think god rays, volumetrics, atmospherics, fluids, binary codes, flat shaded/zelda styles, that sort of thing. I prefer designs that have one or two interesting elements to complex ones with lots of different overlays.
There is quite a lot of room for creative freedom here. I'd prefer the art style to have some coherency across the site as well as fit in with the 3D elements.
Good luck!

Employer Feedback
“I invited people to design five original banners that would help define my website. The requirements were not easy but Karthikapl86 managed to come up with a design that perfectly complimented the existing logo and other elements on the website. The artwork was beautifully coherent and has effectively defined the brand of my company. There was of course some iteration along the way, as always, but this was always completed in a very timely manner and with great communication. I actually felt that some of the requests I made were very difficult to achieve but she always came back with great ideas and visions. I cannot recommend her highly enough.”
