I would prefer to use a PVC pipe (by cutting the top and closing the sides by caps) to plant inside it, more than wooden pots; It's cheap, lightweight, and has a long lifetime. As soon as you fill it with soil and water it will be sooo heavy, so I attached it to the main wooden column of the fence panel. Based on internet prices this system may cost from 45$ to 95$ (without the hozelock watering) for every 6ft panel. you can use wooden pieces but you have to watch the weight.
