Contest Brief

I found the attached image on the internet many years ago and I would like to get it reworked into a high resolution output and ideally tweaked slightly to make it unique/mine, without losing much of the core design

I've tried just increasing the resolution of the output and it results in artefact's around the edges of the image, so ideally I need this to be redrawn or completely cleaned up

I'm inspired by acid house music and am looking for an edgier smiley face design
