Contest Brief

Sportstatsguru – www.sportstatsguru.com – offers unique and vast databases of sports statistics. See enclosed PDF, some of the databases are also functional on the website.

We are now exploring how these databases can be connected to API streams. The idea is to make the historical data in our databases relevant by connecting them to current games and events.

Rough conceptual example:
An API may feed all International Ice Hockey Federation's games, and connect it with the SSG ice hockey database in app (that does not yet exist). If you then open the app you will see the upcoming international ice hockey game, let's say Canada and Sweden, and the SSG database would then show the statistical historical background of Canada and Sweden – both as individual nations, but also the track record of the games they have played together. This would give the user an enhanced experience of watching the game, because he will have the full statistical context of the game presented in his smartphone or computer.

This competition involves two things:
A. Coming up with ideas for how to connect the SSG databases of historical sports statistics with upcoming and current games, i.e. which databases could be connected to what kind of upcoming events and games? So this is about how generating ideas for how the databases can be made relevant.

Example:
An API may feed all International Ice Hockey Federation's games, and connect it with the SSG ice hockey database. If you then open the app you will see the upcoming international ice hockey game, let's say Canada and Sweden, and the SSG database would then show the statistical historical background of Canada and Sweden – both as individual nations, but also the track record of the games they have played together.

B. Suggest relevant API streams, to support concepts for point A above. This is about coming up with a rough technical solution to point A.

Example of APIs that could be relevant:
