Contest Brief

I am starting a new YouTube channel where I read scary stories, awkward encounters, strange happenings, mysteries, etc. I am looking for an illustration in the style you see in those "lo-fi playlist to chill and study" videos to use as the image in my videos, since I will only be narrating audio.

I am open to interpretation and your ideas, but some basic ideas for the image include:
A young man with green, purple or burnt orange hair, maybe wearing a detective suit or a button up shirt. Smoking a cigarette, if you want.
He's sitting in a messy bedroom, you can see the moon outside the window.
He's holding a tape-recorder or a microphone.

A nice Nicholas Winding Refn or Bladerunner 2049 blue/pink/purple lighting scheme could be cool if you're up for it.

Image can be static or subtly animated.

  Why do it for the job, just do it for the picture. I mean, it's a break from doing logo designs - any excuse to strut your stuff, go for it. Put some miles back on your soul, do some proper illustration. Y'know this occupation is going to snuff whatever light you have out soon as it's able doing it full time. Any excuse to do something that reminds you why you wanted to get into the business in the first place has to be worth the time. Throw down, strut your stuff. 9 times out of every 10 you aren't going to get paid for it even if you throw in the Mona Lisa - you just aren't going to make the sale and it's nothing to do with whatever you did or didn't do. It's just the way of it. Don't throw in at all though and you have absolutely no chance. You're still faced with the same awful odds whatever else you try. So, have fun. Stuff working for a living, it's a mugs game to begin with.... M : )
