Contest Brief

CONTEST CLOSED

Present a design for Parade robot that you can build and deploy to march in an actual parade.

It must be able to autonomously remain in parade formation, avoid others that might crowd, correct pace when the parade formation speeds up, slows down or stops and track a banner that it will illuminate.

Include a budget and timeline to build the robot.

Winners will have the opportunity to bid on and be funded to build the parade robot.

    The contest was to put forward a plan to build a robot that meets the technical requirements as specified. It is not an art contest. The project was intended to be presented to youth robotics teams. Given the pandemic, the teams are not meeting, so the project was offered here.

    To be clear, there are more than a thousand teams of teenagers that are well equipped to complete this project.

    This was not an art contest, although the submissions are charming.

    The intent is to find someone who can design and build such a robot.
    If such a person can be found, the cost of the development is well understood.

    This is not a graphic art contest. It is about mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and embedded systems.
