Calling all mechanical engineering enthusiasts! We are excited to launch a thrilling competition focused on designing adaptable and universal pedal extensions for Achondroplasic dwarfs (Midgets). This challenge aims to develop lightweight and adjustable-length pedal extensions that can be utilized in various car models. If you're passionate about creating innovative solutions that enhance inclusivity, this competition is for you!

? Competition Objective:
Design pedal extensions for achondroplasic dwarfs (Midgets) that are fully adaptable and compatible with any car's pedal system. The extensions should be lightweight, allowing for easy installation and removal without the need for tools. Considering the challenges faced by users with minimal finger dexterity and finger strength in small, dark areas, your design should prioritize simplicity, ease of use, and require minimal movement for holding strength. Please keep in mind Dwarfs (Midgets) do not have stong fingers. Furthermore, the pedal extensions must be adjustable in length, providing the ability to customize the pedal reach within a specified range. The design should also be travel-friendly and manufactured using appropriate techniques.
? Technical Requirements:

1️⃣ Compatibility: The pedal extensions should be compatible with the majority of car models and their existing pedal systems. They should be easily attachable and detachable without requiring tools or permanent modifications to the vehicle. Installation and removal should be achievable with simple, tool-free mechanisms to accommodate the challenges faced by users in small, dark areas with limited finger dexterity and finger strength.

2️⃣ Adaptability: The extensions must be adaptable to the driver's needs, allowing for adjustable length within a specified range of 4 to 10 inches. Consider the minimum and maximum extension limits to accommodate different leg lengths and provide comfortable and ergonomic pedal control.

3️⃣ Lightweight: The extensions should be designed using lightweight materials to facilitate portability and installation. While maintaining durability and safety, explore the use of innovative materials and manufacturing techniques to achieve a weight range that ensures ease of handling.

4️⃣ Safety: Safety is of paramount importance. The pedal extensions must be securely fastened to the existing pedals, ensuring a stable connection during operation. They should not interfere with the original pedal functionality or hinder emergency braking. Design with reliability in mind to ensure user safety. Would prefer not to use friction for the method of holding the length rather some type of mechanical stop.

5️⃣ Ergonomics: The design should prioritize user comfort and ease of use. It should allow for smooth and natural pedal operation, minimizing strain and discomfort during extended periods of driving. Consider the ergonomic challenges faced by achondroplasic dwarfs and design with their specific needs in mind.

6️⃣ Travel-Friendly: The pedal extensions should be designed with easy transportation in mind. They should be compact, lightweight, and capable of being stored and carried conveniently during travel, and pass through airport security.

7️⃣ Manufacturing Considerations: Your design should take into account the feasibility of manufacturing at scale. Consider the cost, availability, and practicality of materials, as well as suitable manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production.

8️⃣ Material Selection: Choose materials that are lightweight, durable, and suitable for the application. Consider the specific requirements of the pedal extensions, such as strength, flexibility, and resistance to wear and tear. Justify your material selection in your design documentation.

  yes for automatic cars and yes the length requirements are in the post if you read it it should be able to expand between 5 and 10 inches. Also yes this is for US cars.. no to the hand operations we are looking for pedal extenders only thanks!
