I have design and line diagrams for a diy residential solar project on a roof that is both flat and has an attached A frame at 45degrees. However, there are a couple of issues: 1) I'm not 100% sure that the designs will pass the required fire setbacks. a) For the flat part of the roof, I was told 3 different setback requirements by 3 different firms, Unirac told me 12", my firm I used said 18", and another recommended firm said 36". b) For the pitched part of the roof, my firm did not require any setback from the ridge.
