I'm having an Issue with my mysql server not wanting to start. It claims it is not able to write the .pid file, but Unix permissions are fine. I have set mysqld to aa-complain mode so it's not apparmor. I have tried to sudo into as mysql and touch the .pid, which I can do fine. This does not seem to be a simple "Oh I know a little Linux problem" I need somebody that is very proficient with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. If you know Samba 4 well enough to run it as Domain controller and share folders and printers, all the better as this would mean future work.
