I hope to find a talented Locksmith or an product designer to work with me on this exciting project to design a combination code operated lock for my rental trailer fleet. I have a self-service trailer hire business and need to come up with a solution to allow customers to open and lock the trailers using a combination code operated lock. Please refer to the picture for the type of trailers we have. There are 2 possible ways to lock the trailer. One way would be to come with a mechanism to immobalise the wheel(s). The second option would be to cover the coupling (picture 3) and lock it, so no one can attach the trailer to their car. Both options will require a code operated lock as in the second picture. At the moment we use a keybox (picture 2) and put a key inside for a wheel clamp. The problem with this solution is that customers sometimes loose the wheel clamp or forget to lock it. The ideal solution would be permanently attached to the trailer. We can get it welded locally if required. Please send your idea and a rough sketch initially. The selected person will then need to design the technical specifications and instructions on how to produce them locally in Australia. Hope to work with you on this project.
