The floating of ice depends on a number of reasons. One of the common reasons is the density. The density allows the ice, a sold form of water, to float

The reason ice floats is because it's denser than water. Things that are less dense than the fluid they're immersed in are known to float, so I guess it makes sense. Most things become more dense when they solidify or "freeze" but water is different because of the way its parts are connected aka. hydrogen bonding.

Hello, Here is my small essay. We all have seen ice float but have we ask ourselves, why is that? The most logic and relavant reason is because is a solid mass. Something we ask ourselves questions and we don't look for their respective answers. It is important that we educate ourselves on different subjects. I am Naples, Fl high school grad and I am in the Dominican Republic with my family. I am ready to work. Please contact, Thank you.

Hi, this might be my first project so i am really excited about this and i can assure you that the content would be original and unique and the turn around time will be as discussed. I do not have any prior experience in content writing but i am really passionate about it. ** The simple explanation to the fact that ice floats on water is that ice is less dense than water. In simple words, water displaces ice and sinks thus allowing ice to float. A molecule of water is made up of two positively charged Hydrogen atoms and a negatively charged Oxygen atom, the bond between the Hydrogen atoms is weak and is called Chemical Bond. Water attains maximum density at 4°C, as it cools further the Hydrogen atoms have to adjust to hold the oxygen atom. Ice is 9% less dense than water and thus floats. Thanks in advance!

Ice floats because it has specific gravity less than water. During freezing water molecules rearrange themselves and inter-molecular distance is increased and ice expands as compared to water, that'reason ice floats

Ice is a just another physical state of water. Substances with lesser density floats in the fluid having relatively higher density. The density of ice is lower than that of water, so ice floats in water.

Ice floats on a liquid because its density differs. Ice is less dense than water, for example, and has, in the same time, a smaller mass raportated to its volume. Due to the fact that the same quanity of ice, as of water's, weights differenly, everything changes. In this case, ice weights less than this liquid, so it floats. Not the other way around.
