We are looking for someone to write several very large travel guide articles for a travel style blog (travel guides about 5,000-10,000 words long). We will be paying $50 for the 5000 word article or $100 for the 10,000 word (10 per 1000 words). These will be comprehensive travel guides to various islands / cities in Thailand and will cover things like the best restaurants, best beaches, best things to see, best things to do, what to bring, where to stay, how to get there, etc. Initially, we'll have 2 to 5 of these articles. If the work is good though, we may extend the project to cover 10 to 30 different locations in Thailand. Ideally we are looking for someone who: * has experience writing for travel blogs (specifically writing travel guides) * is a native English speaker (born in US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand) * has been to Thailand before * is a fantastic writer who knows how to write in such a way to captivate readers and make people want to actually visit the exotic local you are writing about These guides will be highly detailed, a sort of 'everything you need to know about X destination'. We are not talking fluffy articles, but real information. I am a native English speaker from the United States with a bachelor's degree in English and a master's in Education. I have 19 years of experience teaching English in four different countries. I understand that it is $50 for 5000 words and $100 for 1000 words. However, the bidding is not set up to accommodate this so I just entered the lowest possible number. In the last eleven years, I have traveled to about 40 countries and lived in four of them. I visited Thailand several years ago, but only Bangkok and a few places nearby on day trips. I was there for a teacher's conference. I suppose my experience there is somewhat limited, but I enjoyed my time there. I started a travel blog about five months ago and it is still very much a work in progress. However, I have written several different entries for various places I have visited. I have been working to SEO optimize them, which in my opinion, does not lend itself to really great writing. SEO actually diminishes the quality of writing. I think you can get some idea of my writing style by reading my blog entries though. I try to stay away from "fluffy" articles. I see a lot of this on the Internet and they just aren't helpful when I am planning my travels. If you would like to see my writing, my blog is feettoflight dot com.
