Im working with a company who is in the process of installing an IP card. The IP card is adding capacity to an existing VoIP based phone system (Inter-Tel).

We manage the IT, Inter-Tel manages the phone system. When they came to install this system, they ran into problems. Although older cards with older software installed correctly, this newer card did not.

They told me that when the phone contacted the default gateway it was prompted to download or connect via TFTP, and the phone cant do that, so it disconnected.

We have a cisco 2821 as the main company router. At the main site, along with the 2821, is a layer 3 powerconnect dell switch routing VLAN subnets, and the equipment sits on there. There is a private t1 line going from the 2821 to a 18xx over a private t1 line that also might be involved. The equipment supposedly works over a static IP configuration, but when converted to DHCP the device fails. We manage the DHCP server, and relay dhcp requests to a central dhcp server for all subnets. (win2003 based dhcp server)

At this point I am looking for someone familar with:

cisco routers

vlans

diagnosing ip & routing issues

some voip experience if possible.

Id like you to be on hand while this guy is here, so I have an additional resource to go to If it comes to that. It might be a simple fix. I might not even need to talk to you. It might be a significant issue that has you very involed. Im not sure, so Im just getting things ready so we have the best chance of solving this problem.

1/27/09 @ 9:00 AM CT (GMT -6) is when we start. I would need to have you available between 9 AM and 3PM CT (GMT -6). Available means that I send you a pmb on GAF and you get back to me in 15-20 minutes at the most.

Regardless what the outcome is, or if you do any work at all, you will be paid for your time. I am offering 100$ USD.

The only way you wont be paid is if I realize that your overstating your ability in order to make some money, and offer up useless advice.

Ill provide you with the config file of the 2821 once I accept your bid, and the config of the 18xx. I have very little data then what I posted here, I will know more on the day.
