C++ function to zip a file

I need a function that I can include in a C++ program running Linux that I can #INCLUDE as a header file that will take a filename as a string variable, compress (zip it), and return the new filename with extension ".zip", original file size in bytes and zipped file size in bytes. Please see example program: // This function creates md5 plus current seconds and millseconds // filename and renames file "example" with extension "work" // variable test is the name of the new file // example file name after renaming is // [login to view URL] string md5name; md5name = renamefile("example", "work"); // Function to zip file using filename variable "md5name" and return // int orginal file size in bytes, int zipped file size in bytes and string variable // with zipped file name, example: // [login to view URL] I have included the example above to show you where the orginal name variable is coming from. You can either implement someone else's compression algorithm or create your own. The files that this function will be zipping will contain primarily numbers. Remember that I must have a header file to include in a Linux C++ program that will enable me to call your function. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
