Computer vision based volume estimation: For ecommerce packing process improvement

Problem space: I run a small ecommerce business. One of big challenges during packing items into boxes is to estimate the volume of all items and choosing a box. Humans tend to make mistakes. Either they choose a smaller or bigger box leading to inefficiency. Preferred Solution: On the table where items are to be packed, there will be 1 or more cameras that look at the table top and use computer vision to calculate the volume required. For simplicity assume only items pertaining to one order is on the table top. No other supplies or items are on table. If needed a tape or coloring can be used to create a box or section on the table top to indicate all items to be packed be placed in that section or box. Looking for someone who is familiar with computer vision programming, ardunio boards + camera.
