Hi, I am VB and GIS developer and well versed in Excel and programming of Excel using VBA or even developing Add-in for Excel using VSTO of .NET. I gave also courses in Excel for UN employees here in Palestine - Gaza. The attached image is screen shot for Add-in for Excel to integrate Excel with another application called MetaTrader4 to allow the users to trade from within Excel. This project is complicated and deal with many technologies and fields like calling underlying layer for communications and graphics to have dynamic charts and link to MS Access to store the actions by the user and finally controlling MetaTrader from Excel. So If I have understood the tasks correctly, you want to create a database(probably single table) from all spreadsheets and then there will be different tab where we have control for query file browse and we can search the records in database on based on that query. My Question 1. The database should be mysql, mssql or something else?

Hi, I am Nallakumar. I have more than 9 years of experience in C# and Excel Automation. I would suggest you the following, 1. Create a VSTO Excel AddIn using C#, that will create 2 buttons in Excel Ribbon. 2. The first button is Create DB button. Upon clicking this button will allow the user to select multiple Excel files. Upon selecting the files, the AddIn will create the Database (append, if already records are there) by manipulating the columns accordingly. 3. Generate report button. This will generate the report in another sheet as defined. This will make the work easier for user also. I am ready to create a C# Winform application also doing the above functionality. So based off the description this is my understanding of your needs. You have a program, that every month gives you a spreadsheet. The program, must parse data from a spreadsheets, and add that data into the database. It must parse that data 10 columns into 13 columns. That data must be displayed and must be filtered ( IE by date, employeeID). Some pre-written SQL queries, but me able to be run via UI. I will complete the project in 2 stages. The first stage will be designing a UI that fits your needs, and will submit it for your approval. After that, I will create the program that will import the data, add it to the database and add the functionality to the UI for you to view and filter it. The benefit of hiring me over anyone else, is that I am always available via Skype, and am happy to have a meeting to really determine everything that you need. I have experience doing UIs and specialize in database creation and deployment ( The project i just finished is similar.) I am currently developing a mock UI for you and should have it completed by the end of the night. I look forward to working with you. Your task looks like a weekend job. Actually my wife is an accountant and that's just how my usual homework from her looks: "Look, we've got this spreadsheet exported from AMS. But look here - the data in this two columns have some internal structure so we need to split them in such a way. And here is more...". Well, that's how my weekends go by when they do their reports :). Besides that I've written tons of other stuff in C# where data are pumped between Excel and C# both ways. I could give you some more info on that if required. Furthermore as a programmer I extensively use metadata which is used for source code generating with the Microsoft T4 Toolkit. To generate the code from metadata I've crafted sophisticated system where Excel is used as the data storage and c# app as a code generating engine. Those tools have been polished by me for years and them do all the bizarre things that you can ever imagine between Excel and C# :) including pumping data between Microsoft SQL Server and Excel. That metadata stuff for the average size project includes several Excel Workbooks with tens Worksheets in each. So I guess that I've got enough of background to consider you task as the weekend job :) There are some things that should be clarified from the start. It would be nice to see a sample Excel file. It's also necessary to discuss which RDBMS you're going to use, the target DB structure and some more. I would give you any additional info if required. Happy accounting, Alexander
