communication via RS232 using QT creator

I have a c++ program for sending and receiving via RS232 . It has GUI window with 12 buttons each has separate data in byte to control robotic arm. The Sending is working perfectly. And there is a display to show the received data. Receiving part is also working perfectly .But the problem is I need to display the floating point values .Float values are known which means the floating point values which we get from FPGA board are predefined . RS232 can only sends and receives the data in bytes ,so we need to define the float variable and assign these 6 values and write a logic to display whenever they comes from FPGA board.
