Hi this is a small and probably easy project for someone with the know-how.
I have a new internet connection using PPPoE but the connection has a netblock of 8 IP addresses.
No devices I have can run 8 IPs on PPPoE except a Cisco 1800 series router. I have successfully tested the PPPoE side of things work on the router itself so I know it can connect successfully, but everything I had tried so far can only utilize the 1st IP address that the ISP assigns to me.
I'm not trained in Cisco routers at all, just the very basics of CLI and the rest of things I've ever done is with the use of Cisco Professional or other Cisco GUI configuration tools.
The outcome of this project should result in the Cisco router being configured with two (or more) interfaces, one being the internet PPPoE and the other to the DMZ. On the DMZ I will have devices that will have static IP addresses inside the netblock assigned by the ISP. One of these addresses will already be assigned to the router (the 1st one I think). The on board firewall will need configuring to allow all incoming traffic on all ports, except traffic relating to the management of the router itself, which will need to be locked down to the DMZ range of addresses.
Essentially the router is just a dummy box to get the other IPs working. With the firewall more or less wide open with a few exceptions that I may want to add to.
I have a copy of Cisco Professional which can be used to administrate the Router (which I prefer), but if the freelancer awarded this project chooses to only use the CLI that's fine too (so long as the Cisco Professional doesn't mess anything up if I need to make changes myself in the future).
In terms of logistics of doing this work, I think that it would be best for me to provide remote access to the router so that intiial configuration can be completed. As always with these things sometimes thing need a bit of tinkering, so I can provide some sort of remote access to the router while the router is in running live via 3G internet on my laptop.
