Hello! As I can see - you need host server to seting up VPS servers. but to offer you better solution - more information needed. For example, will you virtualize Windows or even FreeBSD/Solaris? And, will your VPS will be servers with special network requirements? In the simple way - it is nice choice. By the way, there are some other choices like VmWare ESXi, openVZ, or even virtualbox. Hi, im currently running a 3 nodes proxmox cluster ( and managing some for clients ) and i think is the best way to have a really good open source, cheep and rock solid virtualisation environment. i think i can give you some advises and show you how to operate your proxmox.

I have experience with Proxmox and other virtualization systems ( Xen, KVM, VMware ). If Proxmox is not the most adequate solution to your scenario, I am able to help you with the selection of another solution.

More than 15 years of industry experience in UNIX and Linux system-level code development, testing and administration, including VM management. Please clarify: You mention that you want a "dedicated server", which is "ready for virtualization" and will be used like a "webserver". Do you want to use the hardware _solely_ for a webserver? (a) If yes, then you do not need virtualization, just install the webserver directly on the hardware. (b) If no, then you will (now or at some point in the future) use the server in at least two different functions. Which may, for example, be to host two identical/similar copies of the webserver, for redundancy and fault tolerance. (Patch second server, while the first one is online.) I would like to humbly suggest option (b). That is, install a relatively minimal virtualization host and one or more guest VMs on top. One of the guest VMs will be your webserver. Working with ProxMox may be fine, but if possible I would suggest that you use a CentOS/RHEL based virtualization host, since it is the more widely used free one and you can get better/faster support in the online community.
