Job Vacancy We at Observe Design are a Healthcare company, innovating products to provide affordable and quality care to the masses. Currently the product we are working on is a cap for newborns with special features which ensure the safety and health of a neonate. We are looking for a designer with the following job description. Role Description To be able to assist in design of the product followed by the applicant making a refined prototype which should be able to clearly convey the design approach to the manufacturer to replicate. For the purpose of creating the 250 samples, an applicant having access to manufacturing equipment to reliably perform the batch production would be preferred. Alternatively, in case a manufacturer is selected, the applicant should have the ability to regularly communicate with the manufacturer for crucial changes than might be needed during the manufacturing process and to ensure the batch production is delivered by the deadline of 28th April 2014. Research on appropriate fabrics to be used keeping in mind it has to be made for newborns who have delicate skin and higher susceptibility to infections. Key responsibilities • Design refinement to make the “product speak for itself” o At present the design is in a very crude form. Some features of the Neocap are quite design intensive like the position of the eye patch on the head cap when not in use. o Once the design has been worked on the applicant would be required to produce a refined prototype which can be given to the manufacturer for batch replication. • Communicating with the manufacturer It would be the responsibility of the applicant to ensure the 250 samples are produced in good quality and finish. This would require being in constant touch with the manufacturer to be in a position to make changes if and when required in the manufacturing process. • Material research to ensure the functionality and safety of the product o Functionality- the features which make our product stand out are  Control over heat loss from the head- The material to be used here has to be of such nature that it prevents heat loss and at the same time doesn’t completely block light reaching the baby’s head.  Noise reduction- the material for the ear patch should be able to reduce the noise levels to appropriate levels at the same time being hygienic.  Eye protection against light- The material for the eye patch should be such that it shouldn’t allow excessive light to reach the eyes while the baby undergoes phototherapy. Deliverable- 250 high quality samples of Neocap by 28th April.
