Design Standard & Styles for Printed Business Forms

Goals are (in order of importance):

(1) Sketch & propose a new standard for printed Business Forms (BF) that we will use in every BF for a document-based system we are developing. Even when BF runs on a computer, the word "printed" is used to clarify that it needs to have all the looks and principles as a printed form for hand-filling.

This involves, but may not be limited to: typography, sections & layouts, corporate image, user experience, consistency and styles.

(2) Create templates for the different sections of a BF, i.e. header, footer, main data, arrays, etc.

We definitely are looking for a fresh look and think outside of the box (as worn-out this may sound like nowadays).

In order to achieve those big goals, we need to get a sense of your creativity skills, so we are setting a few business process cases. This is where we are going to start.

Background information

- Business processes are defined as BPMN workflows that control the sequence of activities.

- Every business process will use one or more BF. As the flow of activities go forward, the end user will fill-in one ore more sections of the BF.

Requirements of the BF design

1. They need to be tight integrated with the Business Process. The BF needs to "born" considering every detail that may happen during all activities. This is a holistic consideration.

2. One BF may have as many sections and pages as needed, but we like to keep things simple, less is more. This is the minimalist consideration.

3. The form needs to achieve it's purpose. First things first, prioritize.

4. BF will flow with the process. Different sections and/or pages will activate on particular activities.

5. BF must consider that multiple users will collaborate and therefore fill different sections as the process goes forward.

6. Forms can use a "copies" technique. In other words, a BF can collect new data on the same fields, but will change its background color. Pretty much like a photos app that after enhancing/retouching there is a way to show before/after. This is particularly useful when a manager wants to compare estimated vs final values, e.g. budget vs real figures, etc.

Starting Point

1) Analyse the Recruitment and Selection Process (png attached) and determine if one BF with multiple pages will be suitable to handle the process.

2) Propose & sketch BF’s only for Mail Diagram, do not include SubProcess details.

Excel attached provides fields/sections that we guess we might use. Feel free to suggest more/less fields/sections.

Subject to SIMPLE PROJECT:

Hand-made or software-made sketches are suitable, as this is a first approach and we are searching for the right creative concept that unifies the BF and the process, considering that all items may get richer hence complex over time.

We are not providing Business Forms (BF) examples as there are plenty on the internet and we think creativity design is what we are looking for.
If we feel we can accomplish great sketches and ideas for this first SIMPLE PROJECT, we are moving forward posting more projects that can give continuity.
