Design a Logo, Header, and favicon

I'm working on an online project and am currently developing my website to a second beta version. While I'm setting up the back end, I need to update my logo and header as well, to something more classy as opposed to my third rate Adobe skills. My project is a web publication that will focus on culture, technology, gaming and lifestyle, all with relation to Canada. The name of the site is Canadianity, and the current version is here: [login to view URL], while the beta version is here: [login to view URL] I'm trying to style my second iteration along the lines of this theme: [login to view URL], though with a red undertone and a more spaced out look. What I need done is a logo that reflects the future design of the site in addition to name and the theme; essentially, I'm hoping for a word logo with a graphic of a maple leaf incorporated in there somehow. I'm not sure what the best colour scheme would be, but having red in there is a must, even if is just an accent. In addition to the logo, I need a slightly larger header with our tagline in there as well to add to an About page and use in various other mediums. A favicon and compact logo design is also needed for profile photos (Twitter, Google Plus, Youtube). I'm open to ideas on styling; it can be flat, rounded, 3D or whatever else, as long as it looks suitable and works. I'm willing to offer a fair price for what I think is not a large amount of work.
