Hi There,

To introduce myself; I'm jonathan living in Perth, Australia and working in management Consulting and I'm looking to build a website for which I already have a domain [url removed, login to view]

I'm not really focused on the design right now but more on the functionalities. I would like a a website that connects homeowners to tradies like this one [url removed, login to view] This website will be the base of my project and I would like to improve on it to have a more simple and user-friendly version as well in a way. [url removed, login to view] still acts as a middleman and the person looking for help wait for a phone call, I want it more simple, ideally I would like to have what [url removed, login to view] does where the traders bids on the job and the person chooses which company he wants the work to be done from.

Let me put a scenario which I think will make you understand better what I want to to.

1. A person is looking for example for an electrician

2. He goes on the website select electrician, then select how urgent his job is also describe it but most importantly can upload pictures to better describe the problem -> a job id is created

3. All registered electricians** receive a Job ID notification saying that someone is looking for help in his region

4. Interested electricians give a quotation on the job and can ask questions to the person if it requires more information in regards to the problem

5. The person can see how much the electricians would charge but also can see the feedback previous person who chose this particular electrician has given(stars system like ebay or amazon on quality of service for previous job ID etc.)

6. The person select the electrician and disclose his contact details, emails or phone number/address -> the job is closed (To be defined here, maybe intermediate status)

7. the electrician goes to fix the problem and the person rate the service on the website

---------------------

On the traders side.

A trader should register on the website with the following information which are for the person who are looking for help :

- Regions/Zone/Area he can service

- Categories he can service e.g. plumbing, gardening etc. see [url removed, login to view] for more information on their categories

- Night urgent service available

Of course the above is not exhaustive and needs to be refined and I'm looking forward to talking to you for that matter.

Regards,

Jonathan

Hi All,
Thanks for all your bids and feedback. Ironically, I just realised that would like to create a website like freelancer.com :) but for a different type of services and after reading a few of your feedback, it helped to refine the concept a little bit. There will two types of users, Employers(I hire) and Traders(looking for work), both will register in the site to get access but the website will have 3 ends:
CUSTOMER END: login only f he wants a job to be posted otherwise can have access to all list of service providers with their feedback etc. like a yellow pages.
SERVICE PROVIDER END: can manage his page, description etc. and bid on posted job
ADMIN END ; all sorts of admin rights, manage categories, pricing etc.

A few answers to questions you may have below:
Will users be able to post any type of job? Yes and for free
Will it cost anything to post jobs or apply to jobs? No but the traders will pay a monthly fee to be listed and being able to bid for job
Will there be any membership packages? Yes there would be, to be defined but as per today, I would almost copy any pricing matrix you can find on popular websites.
What will be the job search parameters? A trader can see and search everything but can only bid on the categories and area he paid for. For instance on uship.com you can all posted job
Will it cost anything to post jobs or apply to jobs? No just a monthly fee from traders as per previous question.

Hope it clarifies better what I want to do.
Thanks,
Jonathan
