The client has a repository which is used to build a particular toolbar for ie, firefox, safari and chrome, from a common set of html/javascript files.

The build process is too fussy and magical, and the toolbar code itself is crufty; He'd like to hire someone to clean up the code and write basic documentation.

Specifically:

* eliminate unnecessary code blocks

* refactor as necessary to minimize duplicated code

* document (or automate) installation of the tool

* document (or automate) each browser's build process

You need to be very solid with python and javascript. jQuery and tornado will help! Being at least familiar with toolbars/extensions is also probably a must. Documentation should be in minimal HTML or Markdown, but we are open to alternatives. It doesn't need to be extravagant, there are some steps that have proven very difficult to automate!

The repository is 820 files, and 329k loc.. it's about 600 lines of python to build everything, 2k lines of javascript for the actual toolbar, and a ton of Microsoft nonsense that you can safely ignore. The build process requires having access to modern Windows and Macintosh systems; the docs should be written for VMs on an OSX host.

Please read the project first and write the word "Understood". Also write your steps and suggestions to complete the project with a short description of what you understood.
