My proposal: - code in pure javascript (readability),, - visualization in SVG instead of HTML5 canvas. Reasons for SVG: - your tasks leads to vector graphics rather than raster graphics (lot of arrows,...), - SVG is even more standard than HTML5 (runs in older browser, too) I will allow user to play with insert/delete and selection functions for each type of data structure . Next, user will be shown constructing of each data structure for which sorting can take place (lists, binary search tree). Let me know, if you require other algorithms. Discussing your requirements in more detail will be necessary, Results of my work will be simple HTML pages with interactive functionality. I will be focused on the functionality and clearness of each operation (handling it like it will serve as studying materials). No distracting fancy graphics. Animation will be provided as a state-change redraw. Originally, all those data structures were implemented using pointers. I will use JavaScript references instead of pointers inside the code.
