Charity pledge system that will make a bit of a game out of teams and individuals to raise money for a charity event.
I was thinking that we should invite people to help seek personal sponsorships for the biking effort. You know, I call my friends and family and ask them to "sponsor" my biking effort. The person or company who raises the most could get maybe an award.
If one want people to do this kind of pledge-drive it is best if one have a really great online system that tracks it all, turns it into a bit of a game and keeps admin to a minimum.
Bikers can sign up on the website. They can then either join or create teams like for example their company or just a friends team. Individuals can pledge maybe a 500 donation and the teams 5000 plus 300 per member, something like that.
There should be a simple and compelling way for people/teams to invite their friends and family to sponsor them. Easiest probably are a couple of lines of “code” that one can copy and paste into an email program of choice that gives a banner and a link to the pledge system? Not sure how to make this the best and easiest!
So I send an email to my mom, she clicks on the link and come to the website where she can register and pledge how much she wants to donate. After pledging she is given a choice of all their payment methods BUT, there is no connection between the two.
On the website we can then start seeing top lists of the individuals and teams that have received the most donation pledges.
Behind the scenes the foundation people have to sort out the actual donations. They will have all the registration data to compare to the payment data.
There should be a function on the site to delete or decrease any pledge amount from the backend.
Should be simpler, right? A registration, donate request and top list system. No money involved at all.
I think we should build something that fits within Joomla. I am not a programmer but I would imagine that one can use the community builder registration etc together with perhaps the newsletter component plus some custom modules that gives the top lists based on the the field for the pledged amount.
The system needs to be primarily in Traditional Chinese so that means UTF8. Easiest is perhaps if we work out the English version and we translate everything here when finished.
