A Mechatronics project to manufacture an automatic coffee/nescafe/cocoa powder dispenser - 12/04/2017 07:38 EDT

I am a cafe owner and would like to have a product designed that will serve as a dispenser of ground material (turkish coffee (very powdery), Nescafe (soft granules), and hot chocolate cocoa (also very powdery)). the objective is to control the weight that is being used each time the barista is making a cup of turkish coffee/nescafe/hot chocolate.

I think the product can use quite a lot of the functionality found in on-demand espresso grinders where there are timers that the user adjusts to specify the length of time that the grinder will grind and dispense ground coffee for and thereby dispense the desired weight of ground coffee.

Accordingly, the machine will have a timer that will be set by the user based on the desired weight of material. The machine will be configured every day to make sure that the right weight of material is being dispensed given the timer settings. The user would test the weight of material dispensed in a certain period of time and adjust the timer accordingly if necessary in order to maintain the desired weight of material per cup. Ideally, provided that the desired weight is the same, there should be no changes to the timer settings. The product should be designed to be very consistent and reliable.

Alternatively, the product could utilise a scale instead of a timer, in which case, the user would only be required to set the desired weight and no calibration of the machine would be necessary. We can have a discussion about whether the machine should utilise a scale or timer.

In terms of the container that will house the material, it should not be too big and it should be removable to allow cleaning. the whole product will be mounted on the wall just like a hygiene dispenser.
