COMPOSITE SEARCH FORM IN MS ACCESS

## COMPOSITE SEARCH PROJECT I have a complex table with mixed text and numeric fields that I must query often. I need the ability to search on one or more fields for text or numbers (treated like text) in a live environment. The underlying data will be a Query but I need a Form to present the data with fields at the top to enter the search criteria. The resulting filtered data must be in spreadsheet format below the row of search fields so I can block and copy several adjacent fields and records. The search fields and filter must function as follows: a) immediately without the need to press {Enter} or a search button b) display all records when first opened – in other words default to {Like *} filter c) filter for records for an occurrence anywhere in the corresponding field for each record – in other words filter for {Like “*” & [characters in search field] & “*”} d) filter at the same time so an entry in one search field filters with the logical “And” relationship to the filter in each other search field e) the design can use any combination of Macros and Queries preferably without the use of VB f) the design should be simple enough that a change or addition in the field list can be done easily The result should be a dynamic search function where any entry in any of the search fields will immediately filter the entire DB Query for only the records containing those characters. ## DELIVERABLES 1) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under Canadian Copyright law. Employer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No 3rd party components unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the employer on the site per the worker's Worker Legal Agreement). 2) Provide the sample search capability as a Form similar to the supplied example 3) Successful completion will be 50% based on the functionality – ease of entry, responsiveness, speed and smoothness of display as the filter is applied, no flicker. 4) 30% will be for simplicity of design with as few Queries and Macros (or VB if necessary). 5) 20% will be based on similarity to the sample screen included with the project posting. ## PLATFORM Windows XP Pro running in Windows Server environment MS Office 2003 – Access ## ATTACHMENTS MS Access 2003 database containing 3 objects: 1) 1 table containing sample records and data 2) 1 main form containing the preferred screen appearance for example only 3) 1 sub-form that displays the data within the main form for example only
