Product Name: Database Wizard Date: 17/12/15 Brief Introduction: Data Import Wizard (Database Wizard), will be a web-based solution build in C# on the Dot Net framework utilising MVC and will be used in conjunction with existing and new Database Web-based solutions / projects. The main objective is to allow customers to import data from excel (CSV or Excel format) via a web page directly into a predefined database with all the appropriate validation checks and the fields ordered correctly to match the database table. This solution will be installed on the server which holds the database(s) to import the raw data Raw File from the customer The solution will require a Raw File to be inputted, the file is uploaded by the customer and the following rules should be considered and handled when building the import solution. The data (raw file) will always be in CSV or Excel format The data (raw file) may or may not contain headers The data (raw file) may contain 0 rows of data or a maximum of 1m rows The data (raw file) the headers and data can be ordered in any particular order Example (status, First Name, Surname, DOB, Address 1) Example (DOB, status, First Name, Surname, Address 1) Example (DOB, status, Surname, First Name, Address 1) ETC. Administration & Profiling The Database Wizard will be accessible using a username and password, the owner of the software (Webmaster) has the ability to setup new customers and assign them a profile which will link their raw file to their database table. The customer has the ability to have a number of profiles for Example Profile 1 links the customer raw file to the customer database table Profile 1 links the sales data raw file to the sales data database table Profile 1 links the contact details raw file to the contact details database table Profile Setup The individual profile will contain database table path and all the fields and the fields that require validation, for example mobile number must start with 07 and have X digits (excluding spaces). Database has some validation scripts which are used on different applications which could be utilised. Database Wizard The Database Wizard solution requires a user name and a password to access the web page, the web page will be locked down using IP restriction. The customer can enter the user name and password into the page and be presented with their profiles. The customer has the option to select a profile and then use the Database Wizard to enter the raw data into the database table instantly.
