This project shouldn't be very difficult for an experienced ASP/ASP.net coder with a Microsoft SQL Server background. We are modifying an existing IIS6/ASP application to add some additional functionality. The navigation system and all artwork (graphics/icons) already exist.
We will provide complete specifications in the form of Requirements and Use-case details for this project, as well as expected screen-design mockups where appropriate.
Quick task summary (more details in attached ZIP file.)
1: Modification to 3 existing screens: Need to change our Conference Registration system to break down registration sessions into smaller chunks so that the page output is not nearly as large. Need to modify the current page to add a shopping-basket registration system to cache the sessions the registrant has selected, and then register all at once after reviewing the selections. (Task ID #28 in specs document.)
2: Modification to 4 exising screens: Need a way to add multiple locations to Course and Conference registration to properly handle video/tele conferencing registration. This will involve setting up one session as a "Template" and then duplicating the session in the database, changing just the location data. During registration, we will need to group the duplicated sessions into one selection, offering the location as a drop-down choice. (Task ID #6 in specs document.)
3: Need to modify 3 screens and add 2 new screens to perform better email handling. We need to monitor bounced email messages, assign soft/hard bouncing rules, and automatically disable email to users whose email is bouncing. Also, need a way to edit these settings, make global search/replace changes, and view the bounced email errors. (Task ID #30 in specs.)
4: Need to modify 5 screens and add 2 new screens to allow teams of people to register simultaneously. (Task ID #10.)
## Deliverables
This site is slowly being migrated from ASP to ASP.net. We would like as much code as practical to be developed in ASP.net/C#.
We will provide a public testing server and database where all changes and enhancements may be tested.
We are looking for the following deliverables:
1) SQL scripts for all Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database changes - these scripts should be intelligent enough to detect if new tables alrady exist and any change needs to be performed before making the change so that the script may be re-run on any database at any time without generating errors.
2) ASP code changes, along with a brief document outlining which modules have been changed. We will integrate and test the changes manually before publishing to the existing site.
3) All source code required to compile ASP.net/C# pages as well as source to any assembly DLL's involved.
4) Use of n-tier architecture patterns highly encouraged. For ASP.net/C#, we prefer using strongly-typed datasets (XSD's) for data-layer SQL Server access.
5) Adherence to our existing coding standards highly encouraged (for ASP.net/C#, we adhere to the coding standards recommended my Microsoft as much as possible.)
6) Unit testing in latest version of NUnit for any new component (that is practical to test) highly encouraged. We would like the source code to all unit tests and be able to replicate the test results before going into production.
7) Regular updates during the development process. We will periodically need to review code and provide demos to clients to get their feedback and possibly make minor adjustments, as well as demonstrate forward progress.
8) Use of any third-party controls or libraries must be approved by us in advance. We would prefer not to rely on any third party controls, but for the right developer, we are flexible on this point.
Additionally, the following standard suggested RentACoder terms apply:
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
