I had a program written that compares two versions of a file and produces a diff file that can be used with the original file to recreate the new file. There is a bug somewhere in the code that causes some large files to have errors in them. It does not happen on all files or all sizes. The bug seems to require large files with lots of similar parts and lots of different parts. The project is to fix this bug. Information about delta encoding software is available here: [login to view URL] This software is designed to be very quick for large/similar files. Attached is a compiled binary and the source as it was delivered to me. Here are some example files that trigger the bug. They are compressed using the freely available 7-Zip program, and the compressed file is about 530MB in size. [login to view URL] [login to view URL] is the original file and [login to view URL] is the final file. Create a diff, and then attempt to restore the diff. Time to create the diff can be several hours on a speedy machine. Harddrive, CPU and RAM all play a part in the speed. If you have less than 512MB of RAM, you probably want to skip this.
