1. I have a dashboard product that uses Apache Jetspeed, jfree chart and our own code. It can access any JDBC data source. I want to create a hosted solution - but I want it to be self service. This needs to be easy to do. Customers would transfer and build their own tables that they could use.
2. FTP is not required - just a file transfer to a directory - so web upload is fine.
3. CSV from excel is fine as well. Uploading excel files and intrepreting them would be difficut.
4. The application needs to perform the following:
* Allow customers to upload csv files
*
* Intrepret the first line of the csv file and do the following:
*
1. build a create table statement based upon the filename (ie [login to view URL] = customers table) create column attributes (ie last name becomes an attribute in the customers table) and data types (string, integers and real numbers need to be supported)
2. build the table - in a database that will be specified based on login - for example if Apple is a customer than the database name would be apple. This can be hardcoded for now.
3. Once the table is built - insert the data in the csv file into the new table
* Provide messages or process status to the user - so the know that the process is ongoing or completed. for example - uploading file - creating table - loading data -
*
* provide the cabability to upload more than 1 file. Could be done by asking if more files need to be uploaded - or could be uploaded all at once and processed in a batch.
5. The application can be php or java. It will be accessed behind a secure section of the our web site or be a part of the jetspeed portal - this needs to be determined.
6. I'm interested in continuing to expand this capability - so there is a very good chance of additional work in 2007 if successful.
7. Let me know if you have additional questions.

Needs to be on a web platform. I would prefer that you build on a site accessible to the internet so I can test and confirm that all requirements are met. I can provide a test server if needed.
