Using Access 2000 I like to store my customers addresses incl. Email in a database.
Because there are a lot of customers (about 60.000 stored in Excel at the moment), I like to have a small function to check, if a potentional new customer is already registered or not by using
a) the name (or part of the name e.g. *land or *euer* for ‘feuerland')
or
b) the name and the ZIP-code (e.g. if there are a lot of Smiths)
or
c)the email-address
In case the address has been registered before, a pop-up-window should open displaying the full details incl. Memo-field and a chance to change the entries.
If the address has not been registered before, a pop-up-window should open for registration. The entries I already added before (name or name and ZIP-Code or email-address) must not be enterd again.
As well I don't like to add the town name. The town name should be automatically created by entering the the abbreviation of country and ZIP-code (e.g. (D 33739 is always Bielefeld).
In case there are several towns with the same ZIP, these towns should been displayed in a small pop-up-window to choose the correct town). If the town-name isn't in the list, I must have a chance to add the town and to store the town name incl. ZIP to the table. You will get an Excel-file with country, ZIP and town from me.
After finishing please go back to the first window to start again.
All together it should be a very simple and very fast way to add, search and change addresses and if any possible without using the mouse. It's too time consuming.
