PHP Script/Module

Currently our developer (we only have one) is falling behind in his work load, as we have lots of things needing to be developed. We need a sharing feature added to our recently launched social network ASAP, but our developer is currently working on our mobile module/app which we also need ASAP, so he is unable to develop/work on this project. Essentially we need a sharing feature added to our social network, which follows a twitter/facebook concept. Examples of the feature would be the "Share" button on facebook, and the "re-tweet" feature on twitter. Our website is written in PHP, and then supported by TPL files(HTML) To outline how it would work. The user would see a status update on their feed, they'd like to share that feature with their followers/friends. They would click the share feature, it would then "re-post" the status update on their page(allowing their followers to see and share it as well) while crediting the original author, and retaining the original post on the other users page. (We have been quoted 1600 for this project by the original developer of the software we're using. We'd hopefully like a price lower then this)
