Configure WP Rotator in Thesis

I need someone skilled with php to configure the wp-rotator plugin to run above the content on my website. I have the plugin installed, and much of the work done, but I'm not able to get it to display excerpts from the featured posts. Ideally, I'd like to have the problem fixed, and be taught how it was done so I can resolve the issue if it occurs again on another project.
