Cuztomized Module

I have started creating a module for my website i'm trying to incorporate a status wall script, something like facebook and or twitter like where a user can post their status and other user can comment. I want to use what i have started and improve on it or make it better i also to user the same information from my current user i would say incorporate it from the user info that i have. If you have any suggestion to make it better would be great, I'm open options. something simple straight forward not too much. If job is good i would hire again.
