Hello, based on your information I will only be able to help you get help. The problem with DDoS, as the name already says, is: it is distributed. Usually such attacks come from many infected machines around the globe and can only be blackholed by the ISP where your systems are located or the ISPs that are offering the network services to said company. Everything else won't work. It would be interesting to see if it is really a DDoS or "just" a Dos but that would require more information from your side. KR, Oliver

Hi, I studied your work description in detail. Before I present my proposal let me tell you a bit about myself. I have more than 10 years of linux system administration experience and have worked extensively on advanced linux troubleshooting, iptables firewalls, server hardening, os hardening, apache hardening and other related and associated areas. My solution to Sync Flood attack comprises of following steps :- 1. Detecting the source of the attack. But this would not be of much use as in all probability we will be getting spoofed addresses. 2. Doing OS hardening so that Sync Flood attack would no more be affecting the performance of the system by configuring sync cookies and other OS mechanisms. 3. Doing firewall hardening so that the traffic would be filtered and unwanted traffic would be stopped before entering into the system. This will work as a preventive mechanism. 4. I can also write a cron job which will notify to the specified mail address as and when a sync flood attack is detected on the system.
