I have written a few small apps for my own use on Android to automate some tasks. (1) Automatically sync files to my desktop computer's drive so that when I write my blog, the pictures are already ready. (2) Files get sync'ed from my bittorrent box to my handphone on a push of a button so that I have videos to watch on the long train ride. What do you want to automate?
