I am looking for a guy, who can program the following part of script:
I have a list with tons of domains in a database, together with its pagerank.
To certain periods of time (daily) the entire list needs to be checked whether the domain is free or not.
There shall be the option to start the checking process by certain pagerank levels (e.g. first check the domains with PR7, then PR6, then PR5, then PR4, then PR8, then PR9, ...)
Ways for checking:
------------------------
I am looking for a way for a bulk checkup. In best case, WHOIS entries are checked directly.
If this is not the case, it is checked first whether a domain still has a name server entry. (maybe by using dnspython?)
If no nameserver entry exists, the domain is selected and the WHOIS status status is checked.
If the WHOIS check says domain is free, then it is displayed in a list.
General: The faster the check is done, the better the chances for me to register expired domains.
These are just suggestions as I need your support for the best way to check the availability of domains.
Very interesting project :).
Your solution(DNS lookup + Whois lookup) is excellent. The only problem is that whois lookup has some harsh limitations and you can not send more than 100 request per day! (see here: [login to view URL])
But don’t worry! I can bypass the limitations and allow you to send unlimited whois requests.
As you mentioned in the description, Python is a good choice for this script. We can use this library for whois lookups: [login to view URL]
If you are interested to my bid plz contact me. I can provide the script in less than 24 hours.
Thanks,
Helmot

Hello,
it is interesting problem that cannot be solved 100%.
Check domain name will work just to tell some domain is not free.
But if it fails, then we have to do whois lookup. It will be sure 100%. But, as you probably know there is no central 'whois registar'. Yes there is for top level domains, but problem arrive with national domains.
I can make you script to ad some additional whois servers, to cover as much top level and national domains, but it will not be 100% sure off course.
Feel free to ask anything .
Best Regards,
Zivorad
