customized POS for retail

i need someone to suggest me a few open source POS system for a retail customer of mine. i hve seen phppoint of sale but the developer will take 2-3weeks before 12.0 comes out i like their app but i cannot wait for the new designs to be out. ive looked at openbravo but its very heavy and not enough info on POS although i seen some video im willing to purchse a product and then customize. but need suggestions
