Launching a web-based venture where I am selling a service (reviewing customers' writing). Planning on using PayPal with a "Buy Now" button to sell the service.
I prefer to have the user to enter their information (name, address, email) on one screen (and have that info commit to a mySQL db), click pay, go to PayPal (preferably have their info filled-in already, i.e. no double-entry), then return to my site and upload their MS Word file.
Currently planning on using PayPal standard, but if needed can upgrade. Also hosting on 1and1 with a linux business account (no SSL atm).
Looking for a coder who knows the ins and outs of PayPal.
1. Accept customer form entry and post to database
2. Pass customer information to paypal
3. Retrieve PayPal transaction ID and redirect customer to a manuscript upload form
4. Process customer's manuscript upload
The current site is vanilla HTML and CSS with some PHP MySQL (i.e. no commercial or open source shopping cart). Since this is a single product, no need for a cart system.
The "Buy" button needs to be accessible from various pages in the site.
Though a registration/login system is not essential (I initially envisioned the customer database as a flat file, one record per transaction), I welcome bids that include such a system.
It is essential that the solution work with my current host ([url removed, login to view]). There should be no worries with the generic MySQL/PHP portions, but I believe there are certain account restrictions when working with PayPal and the trust relationships needed for posting transaction info. I will work with the host but may need the coder to serve as an intermediary/translator when discussing technical issue.
