a) Consolidation of excel data should be no problem. However, it must be noted that formulas that generally go in various cells of excel are not ingested into the database (backend). Logic might have to be set into the webpages (frontend). If you have documentation of the formula within excel sheets, it would greatly help me provide you a bid. (b) How many excel sheets do you have and how many of them are inter-related (with relationships)? (c) How would you like Administrators of the database to access the database, and what kind of database is your preference. My major work is on MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL and MS Access. MySQL backend with PHP frontend works best for most small-mid level operations (d) What kind of web server and database server do you have? What languages are supported on your web server? (e) Archiving and recreation of tables is not necessary in databases since the concept of database is to store (and keep archived) the data. Old data and new data can sit in the same database tables for years and years. A single statement can extract data from the stored records. For example, hundreds of years of weather data gets stored in one database table and information of a particular hour can be pulled out in a matter of seconds from 10-million records. It all depends on how well database is designed. a) There are no calculations. Data is entered manually. b) No inter- relationships between sheets within a workbook. c) Front-end access with login access. MYSQL and php is good.I use web-hosting by [login to view URL] d)Web server is by [login to view URL] - it is a linux operated server. e) You determine the best functional way of database architecture.
