This project relates to a patent I received in Feb. 2000. A copy of the patent is attached.
The basic idea behind the patent was to come up with a way to make time spent playing computer games more productive. The method I came up with for doing that was to have a program that runs in the computer (or game system) in the background separately from game. Every few minutes (which may be fixed or variable), the program preemptively pops up a window with a question that must be answered before the game program can resume. The question can be a standard school type question, or can be for personal further education (i.e. learning a new language). There is also a maximum time that a player has to correctly answer the question - once that limit is reached, the answer is displayed. The user must still type in the answer (to reinforce the subliminal learning) before the window closes and the game can proceed.
The patent describes more complex variations as well, but initially I would like to implement the basic functions described above, and distribute it as shareware. The program should have the ability to obtain its questions/answers from a standard database file.
