BookSift

The main idea of this project is to create an application (for use on the Facebook platform) that will entail a creation of a system in which students can list their courses, professors (preferably with a drop-down menu) for students to rapidly input their course data and preferably through the same database to extract data about courses, departments, majors that other course applications utilize. This stands in contrast to applications that force users to input all course data manually by hand. The other part of the application entails creation of a buyer/seller mechanism similar to Craigslist but focused soley on books where students can post used books and buyers for these used books can use preferential buying prices and can accordingly pair supply and demand, that is sellers with buyers. Perhaps a bidding system to help aid in the pairing of buyers and sellers and even a book review function. Hopefully a statistical system can be posted that shows the average going price, the median price, the maximum and minimum they went for on the site. This application should in theory double up as a virtual off-campus roll sheet and a used book selling mechanism. ## Deliverables The application should be user friendly. The user should be able to experience a high sense of productivity through drop-down menus and minimal need for user to enter their own data. The input data should be similar as they are in existing applications such as ListMyCourses. There should be a mechanism for connecting buyers and sellers of books. We must discuss what would be the best whether it comes in the form of an auction system or a Craigslist style system. A statistical system should be put in place (max, min, average, median of book sales), but if I decide it is not good for the application than I reserve the right to remove the feature. You will be notified on this matter before you should start work on it.
