It can be a nightmare laying any kind of tile. An even bigger nightmare when that tile is in the bathroom. Laying bathroom tile is more than just buying a few boxes of tile from your local home improvement store and putting them on the floor at home. First, you must prepare the floor. This means first removing the toilet from the bathroom. In order to do this, shutoff the water supply and empty the tank. Remove the bolt covers and bolts. Lift the toilet straight up and take it from the bathroom. Next, remove the baseboard shoe molding. It’s time to also remove the existing floor. Vacuum or sweep away any grout, caulk or adhesive that may impede the laying of the new tile. You’ll need to measure and cut the tiles with a wet saw before beginning to lay down the thin set mortar. Now, mix and apply the thin set mortar. It’s best to do this in a large bucket with a mixing paddle attached to a drill. Tip a notched trowel up to a 45-degree angle to get uniform rows or ridges of mortar during application. Set the tiles into the mortar, pressing down firmly in a slight twisting motion. Remember to use tile spacers to make the grout lines uniform and straight. Once all the tile is laid, you can remove the spacers. Once the spacers are removed, mix the grout. Force the grout into the joints using a rubber grout float. Once the grout is in the joints, tilt the float 45-degrees and draw corner to corner across the tile. This avoids scraping any newly applied grout out of the joint. The grout needs to set until it is firm to touch. After the grout has set, clean off any excess by pressing lightly with a damp sponge. Finally, reinstall the toilet and wall trim.

My sample: In order to get the tile correctly in place. The dimensions of the particular area must be accurate, so as not to over cut or under size the project. The floor or ground in which you are going to place the tile must not be damaged, if there is damage to the floor or ground. The pieces of the floor must be repaired. The proper placement of each tile must be accurately separated from one to the other, because of the cuts that must be made at the end. The dividers must be placed in each and every gap, so that grout fills in correctly and you don't have to later on go back and have to take pieces of the tiles out to make corrections to your project.

To lay bathroom tiles correctly you first have to remove all of the old tiles. Once this is completed you must make sure the surface is clean and flat. If you are redoing a shower then you have the option of replacing the wallboard and stripping it down to just the frame. You can then replace the wallboard and the surface will be ready. If the tiles are already cut and ready to be laid you will need to prepare the surface by placing tile adhesive on the wall. It should be spread out evenly so that the tiles attach to the wall with ease. Once you start laying the tiles it is important to place the tiles evenly so that each tile has the same space between it. After the tiles dry you can then grout the entire surface. Once the grout is mixed and ready to be placed on the tiles, spread the grout over the tiles evenly. It is important to remember to use a sponge soaked with plenty of water and go over the surface to remove any glaze that remains from the grout. Continue to wipe away excess grout with the sponge until the surface is clear. Wait until the surface has completely dried before using the shower.
