I worked as an Industrial Designer in London for the past 9 years, in a number of the top design studios and consultancies. I am currently working remotely from Japan for inspiration, and because it's a great city to live in.
Safety is a big deal here, and worksite apparel is noticeably different to what I am used to seeing in other countries, so I hope to share some valuable insights in my first research document.
The timeline I briefly outline here is negotiable, but may help as a guiding start. I have not included checkpoints for feedback based on the budget and suggested 10 days duration, but this is also negotiable.
First document - - - Observations and Insights. (3 days)
Market research, visiting hardware stores, and desk research of online products. Trends in the use of colour, materials, finishes, forms and build techniques. Identifying key important features that cater for different needs.
Second document - - - Sketch concepts. (7 days)
Sketch ideas and concepts of possible features and designs, grouped in to feature defined categories. Some initial CAD modelling on more developed ideas, showing thoughts on form, build, and colour material and finish (CMF), with sketch notes of how these initial designs may be developed.
I shall send a PDF copy of my portfolio separately by message, as I and my clients prefer my work to be private.
Hope to work together soon.
