Box dimension optimizing

| | | | I work for a company that makes packaging. We regularly receive customer requests to develop a range of standardized packaging for their whole range of parts. I want to be able to enter these parts (name / shipping frequency / length / width / height) in a program or an excel sheet and enter a (maximum) number of boxes that I want to divide the parts over. Then the application should calculate the optimum box sizes for me. The optimum is defined as shipping as little empty volume inside these boxes as possible. In addition to this, there is a number of parameters that the user should be able to input prior to letting the sheet calculate the desired box range. | ## Deliverables | | I started off trying to make this myself in excel. But I do not have enough time and expertise. I do not know if the actual programming **can be done** in excel. It is **up to you** to decide if you want to solve the problem in another programming language. As long as the end results look like the excel sheet that I attached to this project. If the project is not done in excel, I need the option to export the results to excel. Logically, the application needs an option to save / load projects. Read the excel sheet that I made as an example to get an image of what is required. I want the end result to look like this. What happens under the 'hood' is up to you. |
